Current City Openings

Head Clerk/Floater

$829.50- $1,010.30 per week 35 hrs/week

As assigned by the HR Director or designee, position will perform clerical duties of a Head Clerk level in various City departments during the workday. The Head Clerk will perform all clerical duties associated with office procedures established in City Departments, including, but not limited to processing of requisitions, attendance input, and data entry of payroll through BudgetSense/Harpers Payroll products. 

Head Clerk/Records

$829.50-$1,010.30 per week. 35 Hrs/week 

Maintain and secure files for all police reports.  Verify that crime reports have been properly entered into the NIBRS system.  Verify that all other incident reports are entered into the CAD system.   File and enter all traffic violations into the computer system.  Prepare daily call log for news media.

 

Civilian Dispatcher

$24.45-$30.17 per hour

Dispatchers perform routine to complex clerical and dispatching work in the operation of the City’s Public Safety Communications Center.  Work involves frequent telephone contact with members of the community.  Many situations are emergency in nature, and the individual must be able to think and act clearly and calmly.

 

Housing Rehabilitation Specialist

$1,063.05-$1,138.77 (eff 7/1/26) per week 35 hrs/week

Coordinate with municipal Code officials, as needed and required: perform progress reports and final inspections on projects. 

Assistant Youth Services

Full Time (40 hours per week) $895.85-$1,069.77 per week

Assists all patrons in the use of library equipment and materials including patron-use computers. Helps plan, publicize and implement programs for children and their caregivers.

MEO Repairer (Mechanic)

Full Time (40 hours per week) $25.58-$28.54 per hour

Perform skilled diagnostic, repair and maintenance including tune ups, overhauls and rebuilds of vehicles and equipment assigned to department. 

 

Sanitary Inspector

Full Time Mon-Fri (40 hours per week) $1,303.18-$1,481 per week

Perform inspections, field sampling, and testing.  Engage in enforcement and public information activities.  Conduct routine inspectional activities of food service establishments to assure safe, wholesome and sanitary food and food products, wherever produced, processed, distributed, transported, or served. 

Assistant Supervisor

$16-$18 per hour (Not eligible for benefits) Part Time up to 19.5 hours/week

Open and close The School Age Programs as needed. Coordinate and implement daily activities. Plan monthly themed programs. Assist with program planning. Assist with behavior problems or other assistance as needed during program hours.

School Age Site Coordinator  (Part Time)

$23.00 per hour (Not eligible for benefits)

Assist Program Coordinator (Director of School Age Programs) and provide support as needed.  Meet weekly with the Program Coordinator and keep Coordinator advised of all situations.

 

 

 

Fleet Mechanic

Hours to be determined- $1,029.72-$1,292.43 per week

The City of Haverhill Fire Department Fleet Maintenance Division is seeking a dedicated candidate who is fully committed to their role, as our team functions as first responders for the city’s Fire Department. 

MEO B&G

Mon-Fri 7am-3pm (40 hours per week) 

Under supervision, operate trucks transporting tools, supplies and materials to water construction crews; backfilling and hot topping or cold patching trenches and performing laborer duties which include loading and unloading trucks, including pick and shovel. 

Water Meter Tech 2

Mon-Fri 7am-3pm (40 hours per week) 

The Water Meter Technician 2 will read meters throughout the City of Haverhill and assure that water meters are read and recorded accurately.

Water Distribution Operator 3

Full Time (40 hours per week) $30.82- $36.55 per hour

The Water Distribution Operator III performs skilled to unskilled tasks in operation, maintenance, repair, construction, and inspection of the City of Haverhill public drinking water distribution system. Perform work according to accepted practices and procedures and protect the safety, health, and welfare of the public.

 

Water Distribution Laborer

Full Time (40 hours per week) $22.34- $23.50 per hour

Performs unskilled to semi-skilled, light to heavy manual labor to assist in the operation, repair, construction, maintenance, and inspection of the City of Haverhill public drinking water distribution system in accordance with accepted practices and procedures.

 

311 Call Center Representative

Mon-Fri 8am-4pm (Occasional night and weekend work is required)

As an essential employee, the Customer Service Representative will work for the Mayor’s 311 Constituent Services Office answering all incoming requests in a friendly manner, responds to routine questions and takes complaints from both City staff as well as the general public

Collection System Operator

(Wastewater/Stormwater)

Full Time (40 hours per week) $26.14-$32.05 per hour

Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the City of Haverhill’s wastewater and stormwater collection systems and related facilities utilizing current available technology, tools, and equipment.

Maintenance Mechanic Helper

Full Time (40 hours per week) $22.29-$27.23 per hour

Participates in the overhaul, repair, testing, maintenance and operation of a wide variety of mechanical equipment in a large activated sludge wastewater treatment plant; performs related work as required. 

Motor Equipment Operator/Laborer

Full Time (40 hours per week) $22.29-$27.23 per hour

Performs light to heavy manual tasks requiring some specialized skill or knowledge and operates light, medium, heavy or specialized automotive equipment used in the operation, maintenance, construction and repair of the City of Haverhill's wastewater and storm water collection systems and related facilities.

The Interview Process
